To See & do

Take a stroll around our property, including the gardens of our adult retreat [Getaways] if you ask the staff politely to take you. Thereafter, once your meal is digested, open the gate at the far side of the car-park, and turn right down the driveway to neighbouring Jane Brook Estate, or cross the road and traverse through the vines to Garbin Estate and Gomboc gallery.

About us

Why Chapel Farm?  Well, the first family to settle here more than 100 years ago arrived from Ireland, leaving behind their family home [Chapel Farm], so, wanting a little reminder of their distant past as they sewed new roots, they named the property in its honour.

Before being purchased as a run down restaurant serving apparently shite food, CF operated as a private horse training facility, hence the old mews stables.  Since taking the reigns in 2000 Walker, [Darren] has transformed the unloved plot into the multi-faceted establishment it is today.

Armed only with gutsy determination, a vision, and just the odd [ahem] contra, Walker set about extending the restaurant with old timbers from Midland railway to create 3 different dining arenas, landscaping the gardens, building a lake with waterfalls and transforming the remnants of the old stables into a quirky and luxurious [adult] retreat, known as Chapel Farm Getaways, with a privately landscaped pool and spa area.

After a brief respite, Walker tackled the old Victorian homestead, converting it into a chic tap house and tapas bar known simply  The Tap.  He built toilets inside a water tank [they're so sexy you'll almost beg for dysentry!], paved new paths, sewed new gardens and forged an enviable perimeter to protect and inspire welcome punters.

Our philosophy? I'm not sure we've formulated one yet, but in general you'll find us cool, calm and not altogether collected. We do believe good food, good service, good atmosphere and good settings equal good times, and it might sound cocky, but we pretty much have all four, so now it's up to you to get here.

What to See

[at Chapel Farm]

Firstly, you cannot miss the 100 year old Sugar Gum tree presiding beautifully at the front of our property, providing a grand umbrella to the old Victorian Homestead. Retaining all original features, the Victorian house has now been converted into a tap house and tapas bar with verandah and private garden from which to enjoy a beer, wine or cocktail.

A stroll around our property will reveal our waterfalls and lake, overlooking which is our restaurant offering indoor and alfresco dining.  We have resident Alpaca's (Amigo & Salvado), a donkey (Cinderella), a rapscallion puppy (Atlas), 1000's of native plants and trees, more than 130 rose bushes and the remains of an old sheering shed, all playing their part in our rustic australian setting.

The property is also littered with numerous original art pieces, from the Getaways gardens (which you can ask to see) to the tap house gallery, for you to admire, laugh at, or even buy.

You might even consider walking off lunch by taking a stroll through the gates and the vines to neighbouring Jane Brook and Garbin Estate Wineries for a spot of tasting, continuing on to Gomboc Gallery for a further assortment of eclectic art.  So much to do!
